Philippines

5/13/2015

God is so good! so we just finished our first day of medical camps.  it was not what we planned. We had all of 5 patients because someone dropped the ball and the community leaders didn't find out until late last night that there was a camp and so couldn't announce it to the people.  So we ended up doing a training in first aid.  One of my helpers was taking pictures and she is the best photographer I have had so far! she got all the shots i wanted! :) and more.  And she already learned the talk so she can give it tomorrow!
probably 3 of our 5 patients will be volunteering tomorrow!
There was a huge meal prepared. The other day I had wanted panfried tofu and guess what they made me :) a whole plate full and it was good! :) We came home and I got to talk to my host.  So I was originally going to stay at a hotel but really didn't like any of them, there wasn't one that I could pay extra money for that was conveniently located.  And then suddenly the pastor offered me a house stay! LAst time I was in the philippines I had stayed with a family and I totally loved it and this time too, I am loving it. There is no better way to get to know people than live with them.  I found out today she has been lonely since her kids all grew up and her husband lives outside the country, so she was excited but scared, but I think we are having a great time!
We ended up going to her dad's and prayed for her dad who has o2 dependent copd and we had a long conversation where he kept talking without being sob. His eyesight improved to the point where he could see me too :) he got so excited. He is 82.  The sister in law had a stroke, so prayed for her and although she didn't start moving her body the pain in her body disappeared.  The other 2 had easier to medically treat problems.
Came home and the pastor made me a filipino dish.
Tomorrow we start at 7am! AHH! but excited.
So God is so good.  I was three days over on my visa in cambodia. I woke up 2 weeks ago scared I might have overbooked my stay and lo and behold I had. A quick internet search revealed that i could probably pay 5-6 dollars a day over and I would be fine.- so 20 dollars and worse case scenario, an additional visa extension fee of 45 dollars more.  So I made sure I had enough money cause apparently they don't give change and went early and they didn't charge me! didn't even ask! :)
I had enough time to finish the testimony of tesfaye at the airport and although originally i was going to take a taxi from the airport, I got offered a ride by the pastor! So i am sooo blessed! :)
