Life is wonderful and grand. I was pretty tired early
on in this week, but yesterday I took a break where at night I didnt even open
my computer, I just painted and watched a movie.
The day started with going to do training. It ended
up being interesting because we spent it seemed like 10 minutes or more just on
how to wash a wound with soap! I never thought it would be so complicated. So
the session seemed rather like a dud. I think I will do choking next just to
bring keep them interested J But interestingly,
the girl in charge of writing everything I say in Khmer dressed up like me to be
fashionable! Can you believe it. This place has model like people and she wants
to dress like me. I didnt know what to say except that she looked beautiful.
Not because she looked like me but because she did J heheh! It was a day of compliments. The people
practicing dressing were said to be going slow as they covered my wound because
they thought their patient was so beautiful. Heheh! How can you not love a crowd
like that! J
Jodi came home with me and we stopped at gateway to
eat. I figured it was better than me trying to put something together on short
notice. Yesterday I made her eat a peanut butter jelly sandwich and I ate semi
uncooked beans just to get something in us before the center classes started. I
had planned to get a lot of my internet work done, but instead we ended up
chatting for a long time and barely had time to work, but it was great J I loved it and you have to bond with your team. J Class was great and frustrating. But in the end God
redeemed. One of my teachers just wouldnt listen to what I wanted them to do,
but at the end the student said that is what they wanted so it was great! I
wont need to push anymore! J After class we
chatted about how to run class and future stuff. It was an interesting
conversation and it made me realize how much people here dont know.
After they left I had this strong urge to go to the
Rheas and kept putting it off until I had to. Only was R was there. Mrs. Rhea
told me she was a former trafficking victim and when she let me in we started
talking. Me in English and her in khmer and we were able to communicate enough
that I invited her to learn her ABCs with us for today. She was happy and Paula
came just as I was leaving and I was able to tell her to make sure R
understood.
Came home and it was already 6. 7-6 pretty much
nonstop and I decided I would take the rest of the day off so I could think
clearly. So I watched a movie and painted. I havent painted in a while. It
took a while to get started and isnt so great, but its a start, a step in the
right direction. Normalcy and not letting what I am doing consume me.
Woke up early this morning and got ready. I had gotten
a message that said that my medical student khmer teacher would come by at 8:30.
I thought to drop off the stuff they want to learn about before their final on
Saturday but I wasnt sure if she didnt understand and was going to come to
learn. So I got ready and good thing I did cause 3 others showed up with her
and they were ready to learn. Oh my goodness! Hehe! So I was late talking to my
10am who has been trying to talk to me for a week now but was able to get them
started on the reading chest x-rays. No prep time, but they were patient and
thankful. We meet again tomorrow to finish.
After that talked to my 10:00. I like talking to him
because hes awesome. Unfortunately between the med students and S. I missed
talking to Nolan, but we talked for a bit in a morning before the day
started.
Before the center English class it started to rain. I
didnt know who was coming and Michael was stuck far away in the rain so I went
to pick up K , R and C and then had them call R and B and so had 5 come. And
then R from the Rheas showed up too! So I was teaching 3 different levels at
once hehe! The last few days I have been letting Michael and Jodi teach and then
just jumping in when something needs to be changed or fixed but today it was all
me and it was fun but I felt a little bad for them.
While we were waiting for R and B outside their house
a lady was outside her house taking a bath. She had a sarong on and she took her
bucket back and then put a towel over herself and removed her sarong all in
front of us. I so wanted to take a picture, but of course that would be in bad
taste. Yes she was fully covered the whole time, but interesting. Very
interesting how she didnt mind at all. J
Two more hours in my work day. I was supposed to work
on so much training stuff but didnt get a chance to do anything except what I
finished this morning before 8:30. So I guess technically I have been working
since 6am and it wouldnt hurt to take a break before starting my work load again
J hehe! Whenever I think I might have a quiet day,
things change and now tomorrow will be busy busy busy as well. So much for
thinking I would get bored with the rheas gone.
I am so happy!!! God is sooo good! Everything is just
perfect!! Thanks for all your prayers. Keep praying for us and that my car
starts giving me better mileage. Also, I just had a novel idea about the
English classes and possibly holding them in the beer garden itself. It will
cut down driving times and be a more central location for everyone. Pray for me
that I make a good decision regarding that and seeing if it is even a
possibility.
